PAPERYX

Word game for Kindle

Build crossing words on an e-ink board.

Word Tiles brings a familiar 15-by-15 crossword tile game to the standard Kindle Web Browser, with a compact board, classic letter values, and private pass-and-play turns.

Paperyx open on a Kindle e-ink screen.

Share one Kindle without showing your rack

  • Only the current player sees their available tiles, and each placed tile leaves the rack immediately.
  • After a successful word, the board stays visible beneath a compact private handoff row.
  • The last played word receives a strong outline while the next player accepts the turn.
  • Icon controls provide Shuffle, Recall, Submit, Exchange, and Pass; Recall returns every tile staged during the current turn.

Familiar scoring and premium-square layout

English play uses the classic 100-tile distribution and familiar letter point values. Double-letter, triple-letter, double-word, and triple-word bonuses use the classic Scrabble-style arrangement, including triple-word corners, diagonal double-word squares, and a double-word center star.

Words must connect, the first word crosses the center, all new words must validate, seven-tile plays earn 50 bonus points, and rack values are deducted when the game ends.

Five bundled language dictionaries

Choose English, German, Spanish, Hindi, or Japanese when starting a game. Each language has a local word dictionary and a letter or character set weighted for that language. Validation stays inside Kindle.Web and does not send played words to a third-party service.

The dictionaries focus on common playable words. They are not official tournament lexicons. Word Tiles is an independent Paperyx game and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the owners of Scrabble.

Made to fit an e-ink screen

The board, scores, tile rack, and turn actions share one compact play screen. A circle marks the current player, while the compact status row uses a clear icon, one-line message, and short action. Tap either player score to open a separate, readable history page with every accepted word and its score, or tap the bag to see a six-column grid of every letter in the selected language and how many remain. Both detail pages include a direct return to the game and floating page controls for longer lists. JavaScript-enhanced placement removes each selected tile from the rack as it is staged without refreshing after every tile. Recall sends the whole current move back to the rack, and server-rendered forms preserve the complete workflow without JavaScript. Progress and word history are stored for 30 days in a protected browser cookie so a local game can be resumed.
