Understand license and premium app access
See which apps need active access and manage checkout, trials, renewal, or cancellation.
Apps that need active access
- Mail, Calendar, Tasks, Contacts, and Files require an active license.
- Favorites, Weather, Calculator, Grid Apps, Knowledge Base, Settings, license pages, and available tools and games do not require premium access.
- A locked app opens an explanation and a path to activate access.
Start or manage a license
- Open Settings, then License.
- Choose Start or restart license. Scan the checkout QR code or open the manual URL on another device.
- Complete checkout, return to Kindle, and check the license page.
- Use Manage payment for billing details and Payment history for past payments.
Trials and cancellation
- The license page shows trial availability, current status, and when access renews or ends.
- Canceling stops future renewal but may leave access active until the date shown. Use Restart license before that date if you change your mind.
- Payment details are entered on the secure payment page, not on the Kindle page.
